Membership Drive and Upcoming Events
Rochelle Park, November 2nd 2014 –
The Bergen County American Legion organization with the help of National Representatives Michele Stienmetz, AD of Membership, Sean Sparks, AD of Membership, and Doug Haggan, National Vice Commander held a benefits seminar and membership drive Thursday October 23 through Saturday October 25. Over the three days local posts added 167 members and Judith Morales, Assistant to NJ Department Service Officer Ken Connors helped answer benefit questions for veterans who walked in and aided seven of them open new VA claims.
The Bergen County American Legion would like to thank Marty Judge and Joe Myerjack of Judge Outdoors for providing billboard ad space on their digital billboards on Routes 17 and 80 in Rochelle Park, these ads should help the local posts gain additional new members. The local posts will chair and participate in many ceremonies for Veterans Day, November 9-11, and we encourage everyone to check your local papers for the date, time and location of the ceremonies and ask that you attend in order to thank and recognize all veterans for their service to this great nation.
On Tuesday Nov. 25th at Rochelle Park Post 170, 33 W. Passaic St. Rochelle Park 07662, the BCAL Organization will host two cadets from West Point (a junior cadet 2nd classman and a senior cadet 1st classman) starting at 7PM. They will show a DVD to familiarize attendees with West Point and what is happening today and will discuss their training, branch selection, concerns over deployment, etc. There will be a question and answer session afterwards. On Saturday December 6th the BCAL Organization will hold a Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Service at Elmwood Park Post 147, 1 Legion Drive, Elmwood Park 07407 starting at 4PM. The ceremony is free and will be followed by a Dinner/Dance from 5-9PM. There will be a buffet dinner, swing Era and oldies but goodies with beer and soda included. Tickets will be $25 with all proceeds going to the NJ Mission of Honor.
