Hello Ladies and Post 170 Family,
By the time the next Legionnaire (May-June-July) is distributed, we might be complaining about the heat and the lack of rain. We can only hope while I watch the pounding rain fall. Here’s the rundown of our activities up to now:
While the annual trim-a-tree party was not very well attended, the food that was brought was delicious and the Post was decorated beautifully. A sincere thanks to all who participated and to those who did not, you missed a fun evening.
The December bingo was very well attended by both Veterans and Volunteers. Santa Claus was there to help distribute our stuffed Christmas cards (thank you Auxiliary members) and a Christmas CD (thank you Dave LeRose). As always, the Veterans were so thankful and had a great time. The Veteran’s home has been under a quarantine due to the flu. I have just been informed that the quarantine has been lifted. Our next bingo is now scheduled for February 25th. If you would like to volunteer, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As in prior years, the Auxiliary donated and attended the Toy Train drive which was held on December 1st. It was so much fun meeting the train at the CVS in Rochelle Park and, of course, Santa was there. We also delivered gift cards to Tracers Organization at the Court House and the Alfred J. Thomas Home in Garfield.
Our Auxiliary Christmas Party was a huge success. Forty Auxiliary members attended. At 6:00 pm we
gathered at the Post for Brandy Alexander cocktails, wine and appetizers and then at 7:00 pm we drove/walked over to Nanni Ristorante. Our sincere thanks to Casey for chairing this event and putting everything together. Thanks also to Commander Ed and Bar Chairman Ron Behnke for the cocktails and to our own Dale Coleman for the appetizers. It was a great evening.
New Year’s Eve was another great evening. It was well attended by both Post members, family and guests. There was a nice sampling of food (thanks to all who brought something and to Mark O’Grady for coordinating it all). Hopefully this will become a much larger affair I the future.
If you have not already done so, please send your membership dues to Madeline Madden c/o the Auxiliary.
Don’t forget to check the Bulletin Board at the Post for the Wildwood Convention (June 13-16) signup room reservations. Deadline date for receipt of deposit money ($100 per room plus $15 per adult over 21 to cover cost of hospitality room and expenses) is February 11th. If you have never attended and would like to, please contact either Ellen Caroselli @ email@example.com or me firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don’t forget to view and participate in the upcoming events listed on the “Events Page”. Our next meeting is March 14th (our February 14 meeting has been cancelled since it falls on Valentine’s Day).
For God and Country,
Roberta O’Dowd, Unit President
