Our luck is still running strong weather wise. It has been a gorgeous summer. I know the Farmers’ Almanac is saying we are going to have a bad-bad winter…hopefully they are wrong.
In Aug. and Oct., we held bingos at the Paramus Veterans Home. The amount of Veterans attending this nighttime event seems to increase each time we hold it. In October, the count was up to 61 Veterans. The Veterans went back to their rooms with their winnings (every Veteran receives cash), bananas, cookies and juice. We also held a Casino at our Post on October 1st and there were 16 Veterans in attendance. The Veterans were served shrimp cocktail, pigs-in-the blankets, and beverages and we sent them home with chocolate chip cookies and lots of cash which always makes them happy. On
October 5th, we held our second annual Carnival at the Veterans home. There were carnival games, funnel cake and zeppoles for all to enjoy. The Veterans were out in full force and had a great time. As always, thanks to the Post Family members who helped make these events such a joy for the Veterans. Upcoming bingos are 11/7, 12/5 and 1/9. Volunteers are welcome and needed to help the Veterans with their bingo cards and to hand out the winnings and distribute goodies.
Volunteers should be at the home at 6:45 p.m.
The annual Post Family Picnic was held on August 12th and I can honestly say, it was one of the best ones we have had. The food was plentiful and the beverages flowing. There was the bouncy house for the children and dancing to our own DJ Jim Morton. Everyone had a great time.
On September 17th , Elvis (featuring Tommy Walker from Ace-In-Hole) was in the house and he was spectacular.
The ticket price included beer, wine, soda and everyone brought and shared their own snacks. Elvis entertained almost non-stop from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The turnout of ticket holders was awesome and hopefully, next year will be even better.
11/25 is the annual Trim-A-Tree party. See “Important Dates” for details. The Auxiliary will address and stuff the Season Greetings cards that will be handed out to the Veterans at the December 5th bingo.
The annual Auxiliary Christmas Party will be held on December 14th at 7:00 pm (in place of our regular meeting) at the Bonefish Grill, 601 From Road, Paramus NJ.
