Post 170 Riders
Hello Post 170 Family,
Our beefsteak fundraiser was an outstanding success with over 120 supporters joining us! Thank you to all that made it happen in such a short time; Colleen, Les, Lyle, Dave (Deanna and Jessica too!), Al, Bob and Rhonda. Thanks to Kevin D. for always helping us, Bobby, Karen, Joe P., Post 170, and everyone else that either donated items or pitched in to volunteer their time. Thank you to all who came out to support us, especially our Commander Bob and Loeky, and other Post family. It was a fun time.
Memorial Day parade is right around the corner. Meet at Post home, kickstands up at 9:15am for Post 170 service at monuments by Midland School. Return to Post afterwards for those who want to ride in the parade, or just be a spectator.
Sunday 6/4 we are planning a ride to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor, NY. Kick stands up at 9:15AM. Post 170 family welcome to join us. Sign up sheet in lounge. Any questions contact Riders run/event coordinator Alex.
On Sunday 8/6….plans are still in the works… for our Poker Run and BBQ fundraiser to support Save A Warrior (saveawarrior.org). Save A Warrior has changed countless lives through their “War Detox” program, which supports the healing from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They specialize in connecting Active Duty Military, Returning Veterans, and First Responders experiencing psychological trauma. Poker run starting point is Post 132 Franklin. 4 additional stops include Post 91 Wharton, Post 67 E. Rutherford, Post 310 Little Ferry, and Post 170 as the final stop. We need all hands on deck for this one. Sign up sheet in lounge as date gets near. Our Post family is also invited to participate with us for this great cause.
Mark your calendars now for the Riders Campalooza weekend 8/26 & 27. SAL member, Rob Sheehan, gave us a slide show presentation at our last meeting. Rob and his wife Elyce, are proprietors of the Beaver-Del Hotel and Campground located in East Branch NY (about a 2 hour ride up NY17). We “oohed and aahed” as Rob clicked through the slides displaying beautiful photos of their campground. See photos on our Facebook page. They are giving us a discounted price of $50 per room (only 11 available) and for those who want to pitch a tent right next to the Beaver Kill river and sleep under the stars, tent sites pitch up to 4 tents on a site for only $20 many tent sites available. Rob and Elyce have reserved a weekend date just for us, 8/26 & 27. It looks like a really nice place to get away, beautiful property. And most importantly – a bar! Plus a live band or DJ, and great food for purchase. Sign up sheet will be in the post lounge. This is not just a Riders event all are welcome. Lets get on our bikes and get the hell out of dodge for a weekend and have some fun!
Time to get your bike out of winter storage and clean her up. Riding weather is finally here! Took forever…
For God And Country,
